Every July 24th, Utah celebrates Pioneer Day — the state holiday marking the day the first pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. And every year, one of the most beloved community traditions built around that holiday is Pie and Beer Day — a family-friendly celebration hosted right in the heart of Salt Lake City at Smith's Ballpark.
For 2026, Strike Visuals had the honor of sponsoring the Official Pie and Beer Day, organized by the Ballpark Action Team. What unfolded was one of those days that reminds you why local events matter — thousands of families, live music, competitions, food, drinks, and the kind of neighborhood energy only real community celebrations can create.
This is the story of how it came together, and how Strike Visuals' donated event products helped elevate every part of the attendee experience — from shade and wayfinding to sponsor recognition.
Pie and Beer Day 2026 brought together more than 3,000 attendees at Smith's Ballpark for a full day of pies, local craft beer, live music, and community activities. The event was designed as a family-first experience with multiple activation zones — a VIP section, general admission areas, pie and beer markets, live entertainment, and competitions including a celebrity kickball game between Nick's crew and the local fire department.
Pulling off an event of that scale in one of Utah's hottest months meant the organizers had two major challenges to solve: shade for attendees in triple-digit heat, and wayfinding so guests could easily navigate the many activation zones spread across the venue.
That's where Strike Visuals came in.
Smith's Ballpark is a beautiful outdoor venue — but on July 24th, with temperatures climbing over 100°F, an outdoor venue without shade is a serious attendee experience problem. Families with kids, older attendees, and everyone in between needed places to cool down, gather, and enjoy the day without baking in the sun.
At the same time, the Ballpark Action Team was operating as a nonprofit. That meant every dollar spent on displays and infrastructure was a dollar not spent on the event itself.
"Strike Visuals has specifically helped us with a lot of shade... It is getting up to over 100° this afternoon and we needed Strike's help on this. They've also helped us with a variety of banners for our nonprofit. We could not have afforded them otherwise."
— Aaron Boyce, Ballpark Action Team
Strike Visuals donated a full lineup of event products to make Pie and Beer Day 2026 possible — including custom pop-up tents, custom feather flags, and custom-printed banners for wayfinding and sponsor recognition. Each product had a specific job to do at the event:
Strike Visuals donated multiple custom branded tents that were placed strategically across the venue — creating shaded gathering spots for families, VIP hospitality, market vendors, and beer and pie stations. In 100°+ heat, these weren't just decorative; they were mission-critical to keeping attendees comfortable and keeping the event running smoothly for the full day.
"Please pan out toward the back and you can see that all those tents are Strike tents."
— Aaron Boyce, Ballpark Action Team
With a full ballpark's worth of activation zones — GA sections, VIP areas, pie markets, beer markets, competition areas, live music stages — attendees needed clear visual cues to navigate. Strike Visuals' custom feather flags served as vertical wayfinding landmarks throughout the venue, helping guests spot each zone from a distance and move easily between the day's many activities.
Sponsor recognition is one of the most important parts of any nonprofit-run community event. Donated custom banners let the Ballpark Action Team properly highlight the sponsors who made Pie and Beer Day possible, while also drawing attention to activity zones, event schedules, and family-friendly programming throughout the venue.
By the time the celebrity kickball game between Nick's crew and the local fire department was underway, Pie and Beer Day 2026 had welcomed more than 3,000 attendees across the Smith's Ballpark grounds — with families gathered under Strike tents, kids running between activity zones, and the community coming together the way Pioneer Day was always meant to celebrate.
For a nonprofit event operating under real budget constraints, the donated Strike Visuals kit made the difference between "we hope this works" and "we know this works."
"Strike has been a perfect partner for us and they've gone above and beyond what we even asked for. So, thank you so much."
— Aaron Boyce, Ballpark Action Team
The Ballpark Action Team's Pie and Beer Day is exactly the kind of event Strike Visuals was built to support. Whether you're a small nonprofit organizing a community celebration, a growing local brand activating at your first festival, or a Fortune 500 rolling out national sponsorships across dozens of venues, the fundamentals of a great event display program are the same: your setup has to look intentional, protect your people from the elements, guide your attendees through the experience, and hold up in real-world conditions.
That's what we do — for every brand, at every size, at every event.
Strike Visuals produces fully custom, dye-sublimated printed tents, flags, banners, table covers, inflatables, and complete outdoor event packages — all backed by our Lifetime Warranty on hardware. Our frames are engineered to survive repeated setups, cross-country shipping, sun, wind, and Utah-in-July heat. Our fabrics are UV-coated to hold color vibrancy season after season. And our production times are built for the reality of event marketing, where deadlines don't wait and in-hand dates are non-negotiable.
More importantly, we treat every customer the same way — whether you're ordering a single tent for your first community event or building a full national activation kit. That means real customer service, real design support, and a team that genuinely cares about making sure your event shows up looking right. It's why brands and event organizers across the country — from Fortune 500 companies to grassroots nonprofits like the Ballpark Action Team — trust Strike Visuals as their event display partner.
